OUR SERVICES

PIPELINE NETWORK

The Pipe Network Management System is software for managing and analyzing waterworks on the basis of the Geographic Information System (GIS).

The system can make water service works efficient by locating system accumulated customer information on maps. This system can also offer optimum solutions to realize safe and secure water environments by using a variety of simulation functions.

Main Benefits:

  • Digitizing
  • Planning
  • Sharing

LEAK

Acoustic detection remains the primary means of detecting and locating pipeline leaks. The method of acoustic leak detection is described as “the systematic method of using listening equipment to survey the distribution system, identify leak sounds, and pinpoint the exact locations of hidden underground leaks.” Water escaping under high pressure from a pipe leak or crack makes a distinct rushing or hissing sound that can carry considerable distance along the length of the pipe itself (in contrast, the loose soil surrounding the pipe in its backfilled trench makes a poor conductor of sound). In this sense, the pipe acts as a medium for transmitting sound. In doing so, it can act like the strings on a guitar, vibrating with different pitches for different pipe lengths, diameters, and materials. Small diameter metal pipes carry sound the greatest distance, up to 1,000 linear feet, while large diameter polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes can carry sound only 100 feet.

MAINTENANCE

While a well-planned and tested pipeline management system works reliably for many years there might be conditions during pipeline operation which have not been considered during the project phase. These could include planned changes of the pipeline operations, such as changing the transported product, but also unplanned situations such as leakages or product theft. KROHNE offers a variety of services to support the safe and efficient operation of pipelines. Our pipeline management experts provide on- and offline analyses to identify irregular behavior in the pipeline operation.

These can be performed on-site or via remote access. In the case of an emergency, a 24/7 hotline is available to guarantee a swift response to leak or theft events. Furthermore, KROHNE offers regular system reviews and reports, system and software updates, and inspection and maintenance of the pipeline management system equipment to increase the system life cycle.

SECURITY & SURVEILLANCE

The protection of land-based pipelines against sabotage, illegal tapping, and terrorist action is of high priority worldwide, particularly in times of heightened tension. Elbit Security Systems (“ELSEC”) offers the I-PASS system. I-PASS is optimized for the protection of pipelines transferring gas, oil, or other essential liquid products and to secure other infrastructure installations of the energy industry.

F.O. sensor cable buried along the pipeline to detect “approach to the line”
Leakage detection system to detect small leakages
Command and control system to operate the system from a single monitoring station. The concept behind this general architecture is to use passive buried sensors, not exposed to damages on the ground level, without any requirement for power lines or RF communication transceivers along the pipeline.
